When other people feel ‘too much’

When we’re in the midst of personal change, we need both cocoon and connection.

When life throws you into personal change, it can feel so overwhelming that we need to withdraw from the world for a while. This is the cocooning stage of transformation, and it’s needed as we clear out old habits, old personality traits and relationships that belong to our ‘old self’.

We can’t seamlessly emerge, rebirthed, without making space for this tender passage of letting go.

But this journey can feel lonely, isolating. We still need connection and a sense of belonging to tether us to the world, as we navigate deep change. When socialising and seeing other people feels just too much, connection to nature can be a saving grace.
