How do you bring your fire to relationships?

This week brings the ancient fire festival of Beltane. Traditionally it was celebrated with dance and wild ceremony as the summer truly arrived. Even today there are Beltane festivals around the UK and Ireland.

Fire is raw creative energy. It’s also sexual energy, and the force we draw on when we need to lay clear boundaries, to say a clear ‘NO’.

So, how do you bring your fire to relationships? How do you meet the fire in others?

We women are so often taught to dampen down our fire – to make us less threatening, more acceptable. We’re told not to raise our voices as children, and as teenagers, we may have been told not to dress a certain way so as not to attract attention. In adulthood, we carry those patterns on – steering clear of conflict, and not saying ‘no’ clearly enough. Not dancing. Not screaming, in anger or in pleasure.

We play small.

And our relationships suffer because we’re not bringing our wild fire.

Yet now more than ever, our bruised world NEEDS feminine fire. She needs us to scream. She longs for us to dance our anger, our joy, our pure unbridled energy.

Sister, in what ways can you express your fire today?
